Beagle PATROL

Beagle PATROL
Rob Waring, Series Editor
Level 4

Beagle are dogs with an extremely powerful sense of smell. They often work at airports to find illegal or unsafe items. Before they can do the job, they must go through training. what does it take to be on the Beagle Patrol? What happens to dogs that don't make it?

When I finished reading this book, I remembered that I went to New Zealand. There were many dogs in Auckland airport. They were walking with policemen. They are so clever. It was not until I read this book that I learned what kinds of training dogs take. Dogs and people are the same because dogs like being told good and happy phrases. Dogs in the airport are not a pet but a partner. It is wonderful!!! When I go to a airport, I should not take something to eat because I may forfeit by dogs.haha

Blue Cows?

Bule Cows?
Rob Waring, Series Editor
Level 4

Farmers in India are having a serious problem. A local animal is eating their food. However, the farmers cannot hurt the animal because it has a special name. How can a name protect an animal? What will the farmers do?

I heard the name nilgai which means blue cow for the first time. It is interesting that nil means blue and gai means cow. It is very difficult for people and animals in India to live together happily. Agriculture is an important part of the economy. In Japan, some of animals have decreasing. Because people cut down trees, animals can live no longer and move somewhere or die. Every time I read or watch the news like the problem between people and animals, I think we can make ourselves understood to animals and understand what animals think.

Wild ANIMAL TOWN

Wild ANIMAL TOWN
Rob Waring, Series Editor
Level 4

In the town of Kabira, Africa, people and animals live together happily. The town was built in a place where wild animals live. As long as both humans and animals obey certain rules, they can live peacefully. What are the rule in Kabira> How dangerous is it there?

I love animals so much so I want to live in Kabira with animals. There are many animals there such as lions, elephants and so on. I can't imagine that children in Kabira go to school through the animal town.haha But it is awful that animals run somewhere to get something. It is amazing that people in Kabira have many rules and animals understand them. I think it looks like the wild animal town of Kabira may have found a balance that works well. I hope people and animals can continue living together.

Zoo DENTISTS

Zoo DENTISTS
Rob Waring, Series Editor
level 4

Two dentists in California treat some very special patients- animals! Animals can develop tooth problems just like humans. These dentists help them, but sometimes it can be dangerous. How do they treat these animals? Have they ever been hurt by one?

The work to treat animal's teeth is very interesting and difficult. Human can use toothbrush but animals can't. I didn't know before I read this book that elephants will die when their last set of teeth is gone and they can no longer eat. Teeth are important for both human and animals. I like animals so much but if I have a chance to treat their teeth, I don't want to treat sea lion's and black jaguar's teeth. It's so awful!!! I think two wokers in this book are very brave.

Cupid the Dolphin

Cupid the Dolphin
Rob Waring, Series Editor
level 4

Dolphins are intelligent animals that live in the ocean. Every year thousands of dolphins swim too close to beaches and get caught on land. If left outside they water, they can die. This happened to a dolphin in Texas named Cupid. What happened to Cupid? Was he saved?

I don’t know which is better for dolphins, to stay with people or to live in the ocean. Nowadays many environmental problems have been increasing because of people. Even if people don’t injure dolphins directly, they have a responsibility to pollute environment. We have to think about environment more seriously. Dolphins are so clever that they can perform with people. If dolphins are happy, they had better not live in the ocean lest they are injured.

SLAM DUNK 6

SLAM DUNK 6
Story and Art by Takehiko Inoue

With just a minute remaining on the game clock, Shoho0ku still trails Ryonan by four points. Hoping to put this match away for good, Ryonan hands the ball to their ace Sendo, but they make the fatal error of overlooking the incredibly erratic (and at times phenomenally talented) Hanamichi. With a short block that sets up a clinching basket for superstar Kaede Rukawa, Shohoku still has a chance for the win, but have they already chewed up too much time in the process?

Shohoku took the lead once and they were likely to win but they couldn’t because they thought the game was over. When I was a junior high school student, my coach often said to us, “Don’t be relax until the game is over.” It is true. Sendo is very genius and he makes efforts harder than anyone. We often say “You are luky” Before we say such a thing, we should do what we can do. This cartoon not only makes me feel happy and funny but also teach me important spirits.

SLAM DUNK 5

SLAM DUNK 5
Story and Art by Takehiko Inoue

Hanamichi finally gets some game time as a substitute for the slightly injured captain Akagi and quickly goes about showing everyone that he isn’t all talk. Not only does he manage to strip the ball from Ryonan’s veteran center, but he also succeeds in making several key passes that result in some much-needed baskets. With Shohoku closing in on their opponent’s lead, is Hanamichi on the verge of proving that he has what it takes to become the next captain?

I think it is very difficult to change yourself and improve your skills. However, Hanamichi is getting better as the game goes on! At first, he couldn’t do only layup but now he can do that! Moreover, he can acquire how to rebound! If I am reborn, I want to be like Hanamichi. He can acquire anything faster. He often complain something but he always make efforts. I should make efforts if I have some dream or goal.

SLAM DUNK 4

SLAM DUNK 4
Story and Art by Takehiko Inoue

Shohoku’s (somewhat) friendly game againt Ryonan gets underway. Old rivalries reignite with captain Akagi going toe-to-toe with ryonan’s ceneter, Uozumi. Hanamichi has flat-out declared that he will personally shut down Ryonan’s ace, Sendoh, but will Kaede Rukawa take care of things before Hanamichi even gets a chance to hit the floor? Either way, this is bound to be a game to remember.

In the middle of the practice game, Akagi was injured by Uozumi not on purpose and Hanamichi had to play instead of him. Of course he wanted to play basketball in the game but he couldn’t do anything because he was very nervous. haha I think it is natural that you should become nervous when you play in the game for the first time :) When I first played in the game, I was very not nervous but excited^^ Each time I read SLAM DUNK, I want to play basketball again!!!

SLAM DUNK 3

SLAM DUNK 3
Story and Art by Takehiko Inoue

For a self-proclaimed genius such as Sakuragi, execduting a dazzing slam dunk is no problem at all, but what about some other basketball moves that require abit more finesse? With the help of Haruko ( and some goading from captain Akagi), Sakuragi attempts to put his pride in check and learn how to pull off a basic layup. In theory it should be easy…but sometimes the simplest shots are the toughest to master.

I think anything won’t go well without good foundation. I belonged to the basketball club for 8 years and I started it when I was a primary school student. Layup is very important and every basketball player can do that. I still remember it is very difficult to acquire how to do layup. Hanamichi was trouble in practicing layup X( So he reminds me of the memories of layup :) haha

SLAM DUNK 2
Story and Art by Takehiko Inoue

He may not be a pain in the butt, but Hanamichi’s athletic prowess and monstrous strength have not gone unnoticed by the captain of Shohoku’s judo team. Hoping to take his torup to anational title, the judo captain is willing to go to great lengths to lure Hanamichi away from the court and get him on the sparring mat. Will ouy-and-out bribery convince Hanamichi that judo’s the way to go, or will he stay a basketball man to the very end?

Hanamichi is so funny because he likes Hanako but she likes Rukawa who is one of his teammates and can play basletball very well! I was moved that when he was asked to join in the judo teamby Aota who is the captain of Shohoku’s judo captain, he said ‘’I’m gonna play basketball because I’m a basketball man.’ I was glad that Akagi who is the captain of Shohoku’s basketball team was happy to hear the phrase hanamichi said :)

The girls were supposed to have a lesson, one after the other, but evry now and again, on ethe girls would go into town for the day, while the other would have two lessons, on eafter the other. Surprisingly the piano teacher never found out! It is so interesting! If I had been born twins, I would have done the same thing^^ haha

Usborne young reading 978074608106-8

A horse that can fly? A creature that's half-lion, half-eagle? If you think they sound amazing, wait until you see the other incredible animals roaming these pages.

When I was a child, I believed in the existence of Pegasus. I want to go the fairy tale if I can go. Of course there is no pegasus in the world but I think it is interesting that he lived with god. All animals have magical power for example, roaring, flying and so on. I want to grow them.

Stanley is a cat who's scared of everything, so a dark house full of stronge noises is the last place he wants to be. But Stanley must face his fears to save the day.

It is a so funny story. Stanley is called Scaredy Cat but finally no one called him that. Stanley was scared of things smaller than him and I am also scared of insect which is smaller than me! haha! Something trivial may change the course of someone 's life when they don't expect.

The Golden Goose

The Golden Goose
Retold by Conrad Mason
Illustrated by Mike and Carl Gordon

This is a story about a kind man, a golden goose and a very sad princess. There were three men who were a woodcutter’s sons. The third brother who is Billy was kind but the others weren’t. One day he was kind to a little old man. After that, he chopped a tree and a golden goose appeared! People around him wanted the golden goose and surprisingly they clung to it and lined up. A princess who had never laughed saw it and first laughed. She and her father appreciated and she married him.
I think if you are kind to someone, it will always come back to you. It is not important for everyone to be handsome, beautiful, strong and so on. Having a king heart makes you happy.
